Calls for policymakers to clarify ESG definitions

Confusion over the definition of responsible investing has opened up arms to accusations of greenwashing, Ed Moisson of Ignites Europe reports. European fund managers are calling on policymakers to standardise environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing definitions. ESG-integrated funds account for almost half of the €4.8trillion of European responsible investment fund assets.

However, Gabriela Herculano, founder of iClima Earth, a climate-focused ETF and index provider, says "ESG is a useful concept, so let's fix it". "[The ESG] baby should not be thrown out with the bathwater."
